Today on November 20, we celebrate the curiosity, imagination, and courage of children everywhere. At Fort Henry, we believe history is meant to be explored at any age!

From discovering reverse fire chambers to trying out 1860s drills, marching, music, and learning what life was like inside the Fort… every moment here invites young explorers to ask questions to connect with the past.

Every child deserves to feel welcome, included, and inspired. Let’s keep creating spaces where children can learn and feel a sense of belonging.

On Remembrance Day, we honour the courage and sacr On Remembrance Day, we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served. We reflect with deep gratitude on the members of the Fort Henry Guard from 1938 to 1940 who served with the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War.

We share this Honour Roll in remembrance of those who sacrificed for our country, including those who gave their lives in service. All their names remain here, engraved on this plaque in Fort Henry’s Parade Square as a lasting reminder that our history is shaped by people who showed extraordinary courage.

Today, we pause to reflect on the selfless sacrifices of all veterans. Please join us in a moment of silent reflection for the heroes who made our peaceful moments possible. Today, and always, we remember with respect and gratitude. Lest we forget.

Throwback Thursday: Fort Henry entrance, 1948. Ju Throwback Thursday: Fort Henry entrance, 1948.

Just a few years after the Second World War, a time when the Fort had served as both a prisoner of war camp and an internment camp for Canadian soldiers, the gates reopened as a tourism site.

This shot from the bottom of the hill captures more than a view. It’s a reminder of how Fort Henry shifted from a place of conflict to a place of discovery and memory. Families began walking this path again, children holding hands with parents, grandparents pointing out the walls, each visit becoming part of Kingston’s story.

Decades later, those footsteps continue. Generations still climb this hill, making new memories while standing in the shadow of history.
