Bonnycastle Tours

This 60-minute program for a group of 20+ gives students a chance to come face to face with soldiers in Her Majesty's Army of 1867. Surrounded by the Fort Henry Guard in Infantry Red and Artillery Blue uniforms, students will be put through their paces with an in-depth expedition of the Citadel of Upper Canada. This guided visit will explain why and how the Fort was built, how it was expected to defend itself, and interactively demonstrate the lives of the people who once lived here in 1867, a garrison of soldiers and their families.

This program can be adapted to accommodate older groups of students (up to Grade 12).

Garrison Life Program

This 3-hour program includes the one-hour guided tour, several vignettes for students to participate in plus a new recruit program. Students will be issued a military jacket as they are now soldiers, will be sent to live in a soldiers’ barrack room, and will receive a certificate promoting them to the rank of Private at the conclusion of their stay.

Victorian Education Program

This 90-minute program gives students a chance to become a soldier in Her Majesty's Army. After a one-hour guided tour of Fort Henry, your class will participate in two vignettes, followed by a muster parade where students learn basic foot drills and learn to march like a soldier.

Soldiers’ Overnight Program

This overnight program offers an immersive first-person experience of what it was like to be a soldier at the Citadel of Upper Canada in the year 1867. Guided by interpreters from noon until nightfall, groups complete a roster of duties that help participants understand how and why people at Fort Henry lived the way they did.

Confirm Final Number of Attendees 

Tour organizers must confirm the final number of attendees at least 5 days before the visit. Invoices are finalized at this time, and full refunds are no longer available thereafter.

Credit Card: A secure payment link will be sent 5 days before your visit. Full payment is due at least 24 hours prior.

Invoice: Finalized 5 days before your visit and emailed about a week after. Payment is due upon receipt.

E-tickets and a confirmation email will be issued once payment is received or the invoice is finalized.

Parking & Buses



Free Parking Available 

Plenty of space for cars and buses. 



Bus Parking Guidelines 

Tour buses should park where space allows away from the main walk way. Please avoid idling to help with environmental conservation.



Warm Days Exception

On hot days, buses may idle for up to 10 minutes at the end of the tour to cool down before re-boarding.
