One of the most iconic military bands in Canada, the Band of the Ceremonial Guard is comprised of the Canadian Army’s top Primary Reserve musicians from Ottawa.
The band performs daily on Parliament Hill throughout the summer, and supports many ceremonies, concerts and other public events in the National Capital Region. Its members are instantly recognizable in their distinctive scarlet tunics and black bearskin caps.
Uniforms worn by the Ceremonial Guard are made up of a combination of those of the Canadian Grenadier Guards, which can be identified by the white plume in the bearskin, and the Governor General’s Foot Guards, which have a red plume.
This evening, the Band of the Ceremonial Guard is under the direction of the Assistant Director of Music, Captain Holly DeCaigny, and the band appears by kind permission of the Commander of the Canadian Army, Lieutenant-General Michael Wright CMM, MSC, CD.
