Located at Garrison Petawawa, the 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Pipes and Drums dates back to May 1954 when it was first established as the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion Canadian Guards. Since this time, the band has evolved alongside the Canadian Army, falling under the 3rd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in 1970, the Special Service Force in 1977, and since 1995 – the 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group.
The Pipes and Drums are made up of both active-duty personnel and Civilian members who support the Pipes and Drums in its role within the Music Branch, the garrison and the Community at large. The Pipes and Drums have played locally, Nationally, and internationally and are proud to continue the traditions established by those who came before. 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the Pipes & Drums. In May 1954, the Pipes & Drums were formed as part of the Canadian Guards, and we are proud to be celebrating this milestone of service to the Canadian Armed Forces and to the people of Canada.
